{ Worst Things About Being A Designer }

I came across something a few days ago on Buzzfeed. Now it may not come as any surprise that Buzzfeed is one of my all time favorite site it has given me tons of ideas to work off of and have inspired me to make this post. Buzzfeed Senior Designer Andrea Hickey made a post about The 25 Worst Things About Being A Graphic Designer in Today's World. So here are the 25 worst things about being a graphic designer

{1} Buying a computer is the least of any design student's concerns, you have to get use to carrying around all kinds of stuff on a daily basic and as soon as you get rid of one another three takes its place.

{2}You have to stand up in front of your class and let people pick apart the thing you spent 10 hours on the night before. The work can be hard especially when you have to draw 100 different thumbnails the night before your next class

{3} Then you have to do the same to everyone else. You can get real sick of having to say that's great or awesome when its horrible. And how can you say that looks horrible in a constructive way

{4} The fine art majors look down on you. But at least after graduation they're couch surfing and wishing that they majored in your degree too, so it all works out

{5} After you graduate, you realize it's not as easy to find a job as you thought. There are tons of designers waiting and competing for the same job as you

{6} You inevitably resort to applying to jobs vaguely related to your field. You can make a great art gallery assistant

{7} Everyone seems to be looking for designers with web and mobile experience these days, which is frustrating if your specialty is print. You should have taken more web classes

{8} You try to freelance for extra cash. This will be a piece of cake, well maybe not

{9} Lots of people claim to be designers these days because they know how to use Photoshop, this one is the pain in every designers side

{10} But they don't actually know how to use any other equally important design program. Ha, that s cute kiddo but move out the way and let the professionals take over.

{11} Meanwhile, some person you just met ask you to design a T-Shirt, wedding invitation or logo for the appealing price of ..... zero dollars

{12} That's probably because people think designing is much easier than it actually is, but hey if you think that is SO easy do it yourself. Let me know if you get it done in an hour.

{13} To make matters even worse, some people devalue the entire creative community by doing thing such as I will design a book cover for under five dollars, I will make a poster for your upcoming event for ten dollars or less. Is that really how much you think your work is worth, I would hope the answer is no.

{14} No one outside of your field understands file types, sizing, raster, vector, typography, or really any crucial aspect of your work

{15} Getting stuck on a design means getting several of your designer friends to look over your work before you can continue.

{16} You can only watch in horror as a popular trends become way too overplayed. You feel like your witnessing a crime and can't do anything to make it stop.

{17} Everyone raves about Helvetica like it's the best creation known to man, and that's only because it's one of the only good fonts every non-designer know.

{18} You spend all your earnings on books you will never read and products you will never use, just because of the irresistible packaging

{19} That's just a temporary escape, though, because bad design haunts you wherever you go. This will slowly beginning to drive both you and your family crazy

{20} And sometimes you see something so offensive that you are forced to redesign it. It's the only way to make the world a more beautiful place

{21} Any time you have to use a PC is a living nightmare.

{22} The last time you bought new software was when you were in school, because you could only afford it with your student discount. And as we are on this point what's up with the Creative Cloud, can we talk about that.

{23} And speaking of expensive, forget trying to buy the nice fonts you need. But it looks so pretty and this months rent is not that important

{24} Two very scary words....computer crash. Only the worst feeling in the whole wide world

{25} But there is something that haunts the dreams of designer more than anything else, it terrorizes millions of designs every day. brace yourself its..... when people touch your screen as your working.
