{ Tips for New Freelancers }

As a senior in college going on their last semester a lot of people have been asking me about what I plan on doing after graduating. So many graphic designers go on to freelancing after graduating and a lot of them fail at the first try in the real world. So here are five simple tips everyone who is going to freelance should know before they start off.

{1} You don't know everything.
You may have a degree but you don't know all about graphic design. People have been working in this field for numerous years, decades and in some cases lifetimes. Bring your new ideas and perspective into every environment, don't be shy. Just always know that you'll continue to learn as time goes on.

{2} You don't have to know everything.
This can be seen as good news. No designer knows everything and it's nothing to be ashamed of if you don't know something. Always be open to listening to what other have to say, and not be afraid to ask questions. You'll be surprised at what you can learn from others by just asking a question.

{3} You will make mistakes.
You have to realize that sometimes your designs will turn out to be duds, not every design is always going to be a winner. You'll screw up, you'll do regrettable things, and fall flat on your face. Don't be afraid of failing, on both a large or small scale. Never let your fails define you keep trying.

{4} You're more resilient than you think.
The most interesting thing about making mistakes is that they can teach you more about how to be successful. When you make mistakes just dust them off and live to struggle another day.

{5} It's never what you expected, but hey it's an adventure.
No one can tell you what being freelancer is because it's different for everyone. Just know that sometimes your going to fail, and that no freelancer starts off on the road to success you have to work at marking your way to the top. Just remember to enjoy the ride.
